Melbourne-based author, Anna Witoniak, shares her insights of what inspired her to write and how rewarding it is to be able to gift others emotions of pure joy from her own stories.
About Anna
My passion is to create people and places and I’m constantly having conversations with myself to sort out their interactions. It’s fun, it pleases me and I thoroughly enjoy it.
Unfortunately, the discipline of actually writing it all down cohesively is a major challenge because after I’ve thought it all out and made decisions, typing is slow. The payoff, though, is a story I enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed thinking up.
While a writing career seemed likely when I was in grade six, (I won an essay competition and I created instalments of my science fiction story which did the rounds of kids at school) it did not happen. Instead, after high school, I studied Commerce/Law at university, acquired a family and a career in the public service.
Now I live on a tranquil leafy acre on the outskirts of Melbourne, taking inspiration from the visiting birds, busy bees on my many lavender bushes. I have also rediscovered and redirected my megalomaniacal tendencies into the writing. The Tollans Cove series is the most significant achievement to date.
